UPDATE 3 - 3/18/2025 AT 2:27 P.M. The suspect has been apprehended but is currently undergoing additional evaluations before being processed at the jail. His name and charges will be released once he is booked. UPDATE 2 - 3/17/2025 AT 7:05 PM The suspect in this case has been identified and was interviewed by detectives on today's date. \u00a0 The Madison Police Department wants to thank the public for all of their help in assisting officers and detectives with the investigation into this case. Many eyewitness statements along with video footage were crucial evidence in this case. \u00a0 More information regarding this case will be released at a later time. UPDATE 1 - 3/16/2025 AT 11:05 A.M. Multiple people reported seeing the victim and suspect get into a physical fight along the 500 block of State Street when the suspect pulled out a sharp object. Several people from businesses and apartments in the area called for police after seeing the men fighting.\u00a0 Officers and detectives are reviewing digital evidence from witnesses, area businesses and city cameras. Officers located the victim in the area of State and Gilman Streets. The victim is a man in his thirties. Officers immediately began providing medical aid to him until EMS arrived. He was alert and talking with medical staff at the hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.\u00a0 A box cutter was recovered along the 200 block of Langdon Street. Detectives are working to determine a motive. At this time, it is believed this was an isolated incident.\u00a0 No arrests have been made as of late Sunday morning.
