"Details": "On Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 4:10 p.m., Madison Police Officers were dispatched to the\u00a0intersection of S. Gammon Road at Raymond Road for a t-bone crash that occurred at a high rate of speed. Officers arrived to find several bystanders and Madison Fire Department personnel working to help all individuals involved in the crash.\n\r\nA man driving a black SUV crashed into another\u00a0vehicle and, upon contact with officers,\u00a0showed signs of impairment.\u00a0That individual, identified as\u00a0Rayan A. Bertrand, 20, of Madison, was arrested and charged with Causing Injury by OWI, Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle, and First Degree Reckless Endangering Safety.\n\r\nThe driver of the other vehicle, a 67-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children inside of\u00a0that\u00a0vehicle were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.\n\r\nTraffic\u00a0Specialists with the Madison Police Department are leading the investigation into this crash.\u00a0The crash remains an active investigation.\n\r\n\u00a0\n\r\n\u00a0\n\r\n\u00a0\nReleased 03/07/2025 at 7:10 PM by PIO Stephanie Fryer",

"Details": "A woman used a metal baseball bat to damage a squad car and a neighbor's window during an incident on Thursday.\n\r\nAn officer was on Fisher Street conducting follow-up to a different case around 8 p.m.\n\r\nThe woman, armed with a metal baseball bat, moved toward the officer screaming.\n\r\nThe woman then used the bat to hit the officer's squad car, ultimately destroying a spotlight.\n\r\nThe officer reversed slowly in an attempt to put space between himself and the woman.\n\r\nThe woman then turned toward a neighbor's house and used the bat to shatter a window.\n\r\nOfficers worked together to safely take the woman into custody.\n\r\nShelia A. Freaner, 36, of Madison, was arrested for criminal damage to property, threats to law enforcement, disorderly conduct and resisting.\n\r\nShe was taken to the Dane County Jail after being medically cleared.\u00a0\nReleased 03/07/2025 at 11:45 AM by PIO Stephanie Fryer",
